As I reflect on fiscal year 2024, I am not only really proud of the progress we've made and the potential that lies ahead, but genuinely excited. This year has been one of growth, innovation, and impact as we continue on our journey to transform math education. The commitment and energy from our teams, partners, and supporters have have been nothing short of inspiring. Together, we are truly reshaping how students experience and learn math.
A standout highlight of this year is the incredible strides we've made in the development of our new comprehensive curriculum, InsightMath. Field testing began in the 2024 school year, and the feedback has been positive with enthusiasm from both students and educators. InsightMath builds on the same neuroscience foundation that powers ST Math, leveraging the brain's natural way of learning to make math accessible and equitable for all learners. This is more than a curriculum—it's a pathway for teachers to deliver effective, joyful instruction while empowering students to become confident problem-solvers. As we continue addressing the ongoing challenges in math education, InsightMath is a pivotal tool for helping students not only catch up, but exceed expectations.
This year, we continued to bring opportunities to impact students beyond the traditional classroom setting. Community engagement programs like Family Math Weeks, through our MathMINDs offering aim to deepen relationships with math by changing the way math is experienced.
A major area of focus this year has been our continued investment in enhancing ST Math. Tremendous upgrades were made, including redesigned student experiences with new games and an island-themed student journey, an improved educator dashboard, and enhanced Puzzle Talks. These innovations ensure ST Math continues to be a powerful tool for teachers and students alike, supporting deep, conceptual understanding and engagement in math learning.
In addition, we deepened our partnerships with leading research organizations, working together to drive meaningful insights into how math is taught and learned. Our collaborations with these groups help ensure that our programs remain at the forefront of educational research, delivering outcomes that make a difference for all students.
The work we do is meaningful because of the collective dedication of our teams, our donors, and you—our supporters. Together, we are driving a movement that will redefine math education, ensuring all students have the skills and confidence to thrive in a complex world. Our vision remains bold and unwavering: a world where every student, every person, proudly says, “I am a math person.”
Thank you for your continued support and partnership as we work together to achieve this vision. With your help, the possibilities are limitless.

In a year-long study conducted by MIND Research Institute, nearly 9,000 students from grades 3 to 5 were assessed to evaluate the impact of ST Math on their math performance. The study revealed substantial improvements in math scores, with students using ST Math significantly outperforming their peers across various subgroups, including race/ethnicity and economic status. This rigorous study underscores the effectiveness of ST Math’s unique visual learning approach in fostering equitable math proficiency gains among a diverse student population.
We are proud to showcase MIND's Approach, which aligns with brain-based learning principles to prepare students to become innovative problem-solvers. By creating inclusive and engaging learning environments, we foster deep understanding and critical thinking, ensuring that math becomes a joyful experience for all students. To further support educators and school leaders, we were also excited to announce the launch of our MIND on MA+H blog, a dedicated page offering insights and resources to help district administrators and teachers empower their students.
With tremendous support from our partners, ST Math continued to reach more students, teachers, and schools than ever before.

MIND has seen exceptional achievements in math education when schools and districts implement ST Math. From dramatic increases in test scores to enhanced problem-solving skills, our visual learning program is revolutionizing math education and driving student success nationwide.
Red Hill Elementary School in Tustin USD, California, has harnessed the power of ST Math to significantly boost student performance in mathematics. Under the visionary leadership of Principal Teri Malpass, Red Hill has seen remarkable improvement. Through the integration of ST Math, math scores soared by 15% in a single year—a staggering five-year growth achieved within just one year.
"I've seen ST Math's impact as a teacher. I've seen it as a parent. And now, as principal, I know it works." - Teri Malpass, Principal, Red Hill Elementary School
Los Nietos School District has also witnessed remarkable improvements in student math achievement through the implementation of ST Math. The district fully embraced MIND's neuroscience-based approach, leading to dramatic increases in math scores and student engagement. Read the full success story.
On March 14, 2020, in light of the sweeping school closures across the country due to the COVID-19 pandemic, MIND decided to provide free access to ST Math—not only for schools, but also for parents who were suddenly homeschooling their children for an unforeseeable period of time.
In roughly 72 hours, we received over 7,000 new requests for ST Math Homeschool. For context, we normally serve roughly 800 homes per year. We are still offering ST Math free for families through the remainder of 2020.
For schools, access to ST Math remained free through June 30, 2020. During that time, MIND provided access to 5,725 additional schools and 1.8M+ new students. For context, prior to the pandemic, MIND was serving 1.2M students—onboarding roughly 700 new schools per year.
For many organizations, scaling at this speed while at the same time eliminating their source of earned revenue would have been impossible. Thanks to our Board of Directors and philanthropic partners, though, MIND was able to stay afloat while also increasing capacity to support students, educators, and families.
As we developed our thought leadership content, we zeroed in on the hot-button issues that matter most to school leaders and educators. We are dedicated to fostering these important conversations and actionable changes by partnering with districts and county offices of education. At MIND, we jumped into the conversation by engaging in podcasts and speaking events that fueled our passion for math education and echoed throughout the entire education community. We explored dynamic topics like mathematical discourse, equitable learning, aligning with Generation Alpha to create a more engaging math experience, and the power in thinking in "Big Ideas." Our goal? To keep these critical discussions front and center, driving impactful change in the world of math education.
We spoke with LeiLani Cauthen from The Learning Counsel podcast to discuss today's important topics in math education.
We sponsored the "Math the Way the Brain Learns" community on edWeb and hosted several webinars that resonated with educators.
We published an eBook and a white paper.

By addressing both the challenges of post-pandemic learning recovery and enduring proficiency gaps, this white paper provides administrators and educators with actionable insights to foster robust math cultures and drive long-term student success.
We continued to meet the need for a math program with a proven impact by continuing the research being done by and with MIND Research Institute.
New RCT Study Shows ST Math Boosts Students’ Self-Beliefs - Can a game change how you feel about math? The answer is yes, and the research proves it. The Journal of Research on Technology in Education (JRTE) published a rigorous study that found students who play ST Math have higher mathematics self-beliefs than non-ST Math students.
Proving Ground Study Finds Higher ST Math Usage Associated with Higher Math Gains - Do minutes matter? A novel study released by Proving Ground, part of the Center for Education Policy Research at Harvard University, evaluated the effect of increased usage of ST Math within a single school year. They found that increasing usage from fall to spring by more than 10 minutes per week correlated to significant higher math gains on multiple state standardized math assessments.
This year, third-party independent research firm WestEd conducted a nationwide study of ST Math that was the largest of its kind to evaluate an edtech program. Researchers used an innovative method to normalize school performance across state lines, evaluating how a school ranked on their standardized math test performance within their state before and after adopting ST Math. The study found schools that consistently used ST Math outgrew similar schools by 14 percentile points in statewide ranking.
